THE ART OF MICHALCZYK, SEEBER, SALONEN, CHAN-ADAIR, NEWTON AND FELDSTEIN

DAWID MICHALCZYK

I have been working professionally since 1996, both as a freelancer and on-site artist. Ideally I prefer to work as a pre-rendered image artist, conceptual artist or doing cover illustration within the Sci-fi or Fantasy realms. I primarily use 3DS Max, Photoshop and Bryce.

KIRSI SALONEN

This Finnish digitally painting artist likes to sit and draw with her Wacom tablet all the time. She has done so for over five years now and conciders herself as a professional artist and illustrator by now.

Many of her works are fantasy art. She hopes to find that unique touch in every work she makes, to give something new to familiar subjects, but more so not so familiar ones.. Blazing and rich stories and heart-breaking fates and creatures are all out there waiting to be painted and told. In other words, telling a story in one frame is her key method.

She also thinks that using effective lights and strong colour schemes and still growing an idea from simple feelings and giving them a Face and a stage makes the picture really rock. The main goal and highest prize is the succesful emotion it creates when looking at the piece. Maybe making you wonder about things in another perspective and even get touched by the work.

Among people and mystic creatures also animals, escpecially dogs and horses are close to her heart. Dogs mirror their owners souls and through them people can discover themselves. Horses are just poetic, magnificent creatures that she can't stop admiring and studying.

SANDRA CHAN-ADAIR

Sandra Chang was born in Kingston, NY and began her career in art by self-publishing comics through her company with Mark Beachum called Aja Blu Comics. They published "Achilles Storm/Razmataz". She enjoys drawing and painting in oils, acrylics, watercolors and creating digital art with Adobe Photoshop and Corel Painter.

When she's not working on her artistic endeavors, she studies martial arts at Beijing Tai-chi and Kung Fu under Sifu Jonathan Wang. She practices Kung fu, Sanda (sport fighting), and Shuai Chiao. She has a second degree black belt in Budoshin Ju Jitsu from Sensei Leo Byrd and a black sash in Northern Eagle Claw Kung Fu from Sifu Kenneth Edwards.

Needless to say she loves martial arts movies, action and sci-fi movies. Her favorite TV shows are the new Battlestar Galactica and 24. She currently resides in California with her husband, Dustin, a brillant 3D animator, and their sheltie, Hendrix and an australian shepherd, Freckles. She currently illustrates for Inside Kung Fu Magazine.

DONALD NEWTON

Don Newton's career in comics was tragically cut short by a heart attack in 1984, but his legacy of work lives on! This site is a celebration of that legacy. Batman, The Phantom, Captain Marvel, Aquaman, The Avengers, The New Gods, and Green Lantern are just a few of the strips that Don brought to life.

Besides his absolute technical mastery of the medium, Don was known for the humanity he brought to his characters. As you look at the artwork on this site, note how the characters relate to one another, through body language and through touch. Welcome to the Art of Don Newton and please, enjoy your stay!

AL FELDSTEIN

Al Feldstein is a Montana Artist, residing on a 270 acre ranch south of Livingston and north of Yellowstone National Park, where he practices his Fine Art. His brilliant and detailed acrylic canvasses, which include Western Art, Landscape Art, Wildlife Art, Sci-Fi Art and Fantasy Art, give no clue to his nefarious past.

Born in New York City, Al Feldstein studied painting at the High School of Music and Art, and the Art Students League under a scholarship.  After school and summers, he worked in a studio servicing the comic book industry.  During World War ll, he was a Special Services artist.  Upon his discharge, he returned to the comic book industry, packaging magazines for publishers.

At E.C. Comics, he created, wrote, illustrated and edited a popular line of titles which are now collectors' items.  These included horror, such as Tales from the Crypt (which was adapted for TV by HBO), science-fiction and suspense, among others.  In 1955, he became editor of MAD Magazine, one of E.C.'s titles.  He took the magazine's circulation from 375,000 to a high of almost 3 million by gathering a staff of talented artist and writers; supervising every phase of its operation, editing and re-writing every word; designing layouts and creating the format that led to MAD's success, including adopting and christening its trademark, the freckle-faced, grinning Alfred E. Neuman.
